Hashtags are words or phrases preceded by the # symbol that can be used to create or identify topics and categories related to a specific post. They're a great way to start discussions and can serve as a highlight for important points. Hashtags can be used in the description of any type of post, as well as in comments. They cannot be used in post titles.
Creating a hashtag
To create a hashtag, type the # symbol before the word or phrase that you want to use. Do not use spaces if typing a phrase—hashtags should be all one word. You can use capitalization to help differentiate between words in a hashtag (e.g., #ExcellentWork or #excellentWork).
Once your post is submitted, the hashtag will display as a searchable link within the text of the post. Clicking it will take you to the Activity page and display any posts that use the same hashtag in the description or comment.
Hashtags in comments
Creating a hashtag in a comment works the same way as it does with posts. Type the # symbol before the word or phrase you want to turn into a hashtag. Click Comment (or enter/return) once you've finished typing the remainder of your comment.
The hashtag will display as a searchable link in your comment.
When used consistently, hashtags are a great way to boost engagement around recognition and a powerful tool for identifying the behaviors and values that are important to your people and to your company's experience!
Note: Hashtags are not currently supported on the Brand Integrity mobile app.
