Program admins can change managers across the platform or for a specific group by using the Bulk Actions menu of the Manage Users page in the Admin panel.
Keep in mind: Companies with an automated feed of data from the HR or payroll system will typically not have to manually change managers. The best place to make changes to user data is through your HR/payroll system, which will automatically update the platform data when the report processes (usually happens daily or weekly based on your company's configuration). If you do make changes, they will be overridden the next time the reports processes.
Bulk change a manager across the platform
The Bulk Manager Change feature of the Manage Users page allows the Program Administrator or User Administrator to change from one manager to another. This is helpful, for example, in the instance that a new manager joins the organization, a manager moves to a new department and has different direct reports, or a user is promoted to a managerial role.
Navigate to the Manage Users page of the Administration section in the Admin panel by clicking the Admin Settings icon in the top menu bar and selecting Manage Users from the drop-down menu.
This takes you to the Manage Users page, which lists all of the users in your company's program. For more information on actions to take on this page, visit this article about the Manage Users page.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page, click on the Bulk Actions button, and select Bulk Manager Change from the drop-down menu.
Type the name of the manager to be changed in the Change Manager From field. Type the new manager's name in the Change Manager To field. This action will change the manager for all present and future posts within the program for the user whose name is in the Change Manager From field to the user whose name is in the Change Manager To field.
Click Save to complete the action.
Note: Changing the reviewer here will only change it for existing and future posts for that reviewer. To change a reviewer in bulk for posts that a pending in the system—meaning they are not yet published—use the Bulk Change Reviewer feature in the Manage Posts section.
Bulk change the manager for a specific group
If you are looking to change the manager for a specific group, but not across the entire platform, use the Bulk Group Manager Change feature.
(For example, John used to be the manager of Sales as well as Marketing, but now John will only manage Marketing and Christine will manage Sales. In this case you could use the Bulk Group Manager Change window to change the manager for everyone in the Sales group to Christine.)
Select Bulk Group Manager Change from the Bulk Actions button at the bottom of the Manage Users page.
In the Group field, select the department, location, etc., that you want to change the manager for.
In the Change Manager To field, type in the name and select the manager that you want for the chosen group.
